A passionate team dedicated to growing our community and celebrating the joy of ballroom
President
Competition Comm. Chair
Hey! I'm Kamil, a proud Matherite studying computational neuroscience and philosophy starting his junior year. Going into college, I was the worst dancer ever barely able to count music in four but after giving a ballroom bootcamp a shot in the beginning of my freshman year, I was hooked and still find dancing with the amazing community at the club one of the only moments I can really detach during the week. Outside of practicing and crying over grant funding, you'll find me listening to Steely Dan, engaging in Mather's house life, diving or around the gyms on campus!

Vice-President
Showcase Comm. Chair
Hey! I'm Ellen and a junior in Quincy House studying Applied Math and AFVS. I did ballet and traditional Chinese dances before college, and I was immediately hooked on ballroom after joining the team my freshman year. Outside of ballroom, you'll find me making 3D animations, going for a run near the Charles, or (more often than not) holed up in the Carpenter Center.

Captain
Matondo Mihalache (Class of 2029) is concentrating in Neuroscience with a joint concentration in either Philosophy or Theater, Dance and Media. Matondo is a Canadian National Latin Dance champion and the Captain of the Harvard Ballroom Dance Team. He has performed in the multimedia, multistyle professional Harvard “Fall Production Studio” at the Harvard Dance Center under Ali Kenner Brodsky and Andy Russ. He is the choreographer for the traditional Rookie Piece of the 2026 HBDT Spring Showcase and on the organizing committee for the collegiate competition “Harvard Invitational.” He has worked on the First Year Arts Program Pre-Orientation Show as a costume and lighting designer, has performed in the 2026 “Un Viaje Por El Mundo” show with the Harvard Undergraduate Candela Latin Dance Troupe at the Loeb Drama Center (home of the American Repertory Theater) and cheers with the Harvard Band as a saxophone player at Division 1 games. He is a model for the Harvard Undergraduate Fashion Organization. As a screenwriter and director, he has produced short films about the art of dancing that blur the lines between the seen and the felt. He is passionate about bringing his artistic sensibilities beyond the dancefloor to the entrepreneurial world to spark reflection about the healing power of dance and arts in pediatric treatment. He hosts a cancer awareness podcast and is the creator of a social impact, multi-college design competition. His openness to multidisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity guides the team to a new calendar of social collaborations with other dance clubs on campus.

Rookie Captain
Hi! I'm Mikayla, a sophomore in Pfoho studying Math and Physics. I've been dancing since I was 7, but mainly traditional Chinese dance. However, I've always loved Dancing with the Stars and that led me to experiment with Latin in high school. Coming into college, I knew I had to join ballroom and I've absolutely loved my first year. As your Rookie Captain, I can't wait to watch you guys experience the same magic. Outside of ballroom, you can find me watching a romcom (recs please), getting lost on a long walk, or browsing a bookstore.

Hi! I'm Thamini and I'm a Malaysian student planning to concentrate in Economics who is passionate about journalism. In addition to ballroom, I enjoy learning other styles of dance like hip-hop, ballet and lyrical, and I'm a big fan of matcha and iced honey lattes.

My name is Blixa Broussard, I’m a first year studying physics at the college. HBDT has been my first experience in dancing to any capacity, but it has absolutely sparked a new passion! While I love competing in general, my favorite dances are quickstep and Viennese Waltz!

External Business Manager
Hey there! I'm Kitty, a recent ALM Management graduate from the Harvard Extension School. After taking a Bronze-level ballroom class at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), I was committed to ballroom dancing. It led to my research role there, coordinating a grant project that used dance to help youth build social-emotional skills; this included recruiting instructors and securing funding for an annual competition. Seeing the impact of this dancesport made me want to support this community!
Professionally, I've led UX design at companies like Amazon, and I'm excited to apply a design-thinking lens to HBDT's revenue growth and sustainability. Outside of ballroom, you'll find me at the Harvard Innovation Labs, hitting the gym, or munching on local treats (I'm easily bribed with sweets).

Board Member-at-Large
Hi! I’m Alexis. I’m a freshman in Matthews interested in studying computer science. I never thought I would be a dancer, but since I started ballroom dancing with the team in the fall, I have loved ballroom ever since. In my free time, I enjoy drawing, crafting, and learning how to code.
