Founded in 1990, the Harvard Ballroom Dance Team (HBDT) promotes the art and sport of Ballroom and Latin dance within the Harvard community. Founded by Chris Brengel, Jennifer Gonzalez, Beth Mitchell, and Quan Vu as an undergraduate organization at Harvard College, HBDT represents Harvard and collegiate ballroom in the broader dance community. The team supports a competitive program made up of both rookies and experienced dancers, offering opportunities for members to develop their skills and step onto the competition floor.

HBDT also fosters a love of dance across the Harvard community by hosting regular practices, lessons, social dances, and special events that welcome dancers of all experience levels. Throughout the year, the team travels to competitions in cities such as Montreal and New York, and each fall we host our own competition, Harvard Beginners, which introduces new dancers to the excitement of collegiate ballroom competition.
